Has it already been a year!?!
Last week, Jeff and I celebrated our one year anniversary. It is astounding to me that we have already hit this milestone in our marriage - time has certainly flew by! And what a wonderful, challenging, and exciting year it has been! We celebrated on the 27th by having dinner on the beach in Deerfield and playing a little volleyball - fun and relaxing, just what we both needed. The following weekend, we took advantage of Jeff's 3-day weekend due to the 4th of July, and spent 3 fun nights in South Beach, Miami. We both agreed that a visit to South Beach will never be necessary again , but it was a great, nearby city to get away to for just a few days.
Spring
As I type, Jeff is in the backyard watering the flowers in our newly planted garden. I love the way our house is coming together! We finally worked on the garden a few weeks ago, laying down bricks, planting flowers, and putting down mulch. It is lovely to look through our patio and see the bright bursts of color in front of the lake. The backyard is one of our favorite parts of this house, and was one of the major selling points for us. It's small, but full of trees and plants. Every morning, we watch the sun come up over the lake, and the whole yard glows. It's beautiful, and makes me love living in this house :)

Needed Changes in my Life
Spring is here! Though we live in Florida, this has been an unusually cool winter...and I haven't complained, not once! :) I've actually enjoyed the cooler weather, but am really enjoying the warmth we are getting (without the humidity, so far!) We'll see how long it lasts.
I've been feeling moody and somewhat anxious lately, and it's extremely frustrating. While on one hand I couldn't be happier with my marriage and our home, on the other I feel like something has been missing in me. Last night I spent some wonderful quality time with Jeff, and we ended up talking about some changes that I want to see in my life. I've been thinking about these things for a few weeks now, and having talked about it, I really desire to see a change (in some cases, we both want these changes for ourselves).
Trapster (stole my idea)
Ever have one of those brilliant ideas, where you actually spent hours discussing it and worked out some of the details with your friends and family, only to watch it be done first by someone else? Well, thats what happened with my Trapster idea, only it wasnt called Trapster and it wasnt limited only to police/citation tracking. But, I figure I might as well enjoy the fruits of their labor, since the application is free right now. And I might as well endorse it on my blog. Check it out: www.trapster.com. It provides live notifications of speed traps and known red light cameras on a map view, with voice alerts. Keep it running as you drive and throw away your radar detector.

Obsurd Warmth and Privacy
Ran across this when searching for a lapdesk. Would anyone actually pay for this and use it?

Happy New Year!
It's hard to believe that another year has come and gone. So much has changed in this last year, it's a bit overwhelming for me when I think about it! Since this time last year Jeff and I have: gotten engaged, planned a wedding, planned a honeymoon, gotten married (!!!), traveled to Hawaii, house searched for months, bought a house, packed and moved (twice for me!), drove to New York for Thanksgiving, and started renovations on our new home. Unbelievable!

House...Hunting
Its been about six months since we started looking for a house in the Boynton Beach, Delray Beach area. About one month in, our search turned to a full on hunt when we realized how quickly the "good" properties were selling and how long it could take for banks to respond to even the fairest of offers on foreclosures and short sales.
Since the late spring, we have looked at about 75 houses and put serious offers on 4 of them. They were all 3/2 single family homes, under 1800 sq ft, listed for less than $170k.
We learned early on that the buyers' competition is fierce at best. The market is flooded with young people who have waited patiently for prices to fall from their ridiculously inflated levels and are now racing to buy their first homes while there is a promise of an $8k tax credit. Interestingly, we all seem to be looking for the same type of property (3/2 single family home or townhouse) in roughly the same price range ($130-200k).
